Synopsis

Aunt Rihanna lives in old Sana’a and works as a traditional Yemeni wedding singer. She is one of the last few singers who remembers traditional Yemeni songs and takes her job as a preservationist very seriously. But she also happens to be a comedian – using weddings as her main stage to share her opinions on society. This duality, her high spirit, and honesty make her a unique character. We follow Aunt Rihanna for a day in her life as she prepares for a wedding and tells us more about how she became who she is today.

في ظل اتجاه النساء اليوم لاختيار أغاني عرس (زفة العرس) تتماشى مع معطيات الحداثة تأتي قصة الخالة ريحانة التي تعيش في صنعاء القديمة وتعمل كمغنية تقليدية في الاعراس اليمنية وايضا تقوم بألقاء والدعابات من أجل إضحاك الحاضرات والتي تتميز بروحها المرحة وشخصيتها الجميلة التي نراها من خلال مرافقتنا لها في يوم من حياتها.

Director Bio

Entesar Alduais is an accomplished Yemeni director and screenwriter who sheds light on human rights issues, women’s issues, and Yemeni culture through her short films and documentaries. She has written several short films, including ‘Until When’ (2016) and ‘Between Two Pictures’ (2022), directed by Saleh Al-Aroosi. Entesar has directed two documentaries ‘Silver’ (2021), and ‘Sahen Al-Mimya’ (2022), and is now working on a feature documentary film called ‘Survival’. Entesar’s work showcases the beauty of Yemeni culture and her dedication to important issues.

انتصار الدعيس مخرجة وكاتبة سيناريو يمنية متفوقة تسلط الضوء على قضايا حقوق الإنسان وقضايا المرأة والثقافة اليمنية من خلال أفلامها القصيرة والوثائقية. كتبت عدة أفلام قصيرة منها “حتى متى” (2016) و “بين صورتين” (2022) إخراج صالح العروسي. أخرج انتصار فيلمين وثائقيين “فضة” (2021)، و “صحن المميا” (2022)، تعمل الآن على فيلم وثائقي طويل بعنوان “البقاء على قيد الحياة”. تعرض أعمال انتصار جمال الثقافة اليمنية وتفانيها في القضايا المهمة.
